This book is essentially two separate books—all contained under one cover—and thus it is one giant book. The first section of The Bible contains everything you need to know on the proper care and maintenance of your dogs. Book I covers the elemental foundation for success: which is top-notch caregiving on every level. If you think about it, almost every bit of what we do as dogmen is provide care; yet 99.99% of what we call "dogmen" don't really know how to do so correctly. What good is it if you come across the best dog of your life, only to lose him in a kennel wreck because you have been using improper hardware? Or what good is it to have a great dog only to have him die way too young because you don't know how to feed properly? Why spend thousands of dollars buying the wrong products, and then realize you spent 10x as much as you should have on them as well? This section is the single-most important aspect of this book to master for your long-term success in these dogs, because it covers 99.99% of what you are going to be doing with them every single day that you have them: taking care of them. Every step of the way (from how you keep your dogs to how you feed them), there are hazards to avoid and there are things to do right. This section details the right way. But first an introduction and prelude:

Understanding where you came from helps you to understand where you're going. The Glory Days of this breed are long since gone, and today the status of the game and the breed has reached an all-time low. It takes a committed and dedicated fancier to stay in and endure the risks of keeping this breed alive, and this introduction outlines the truth about the sport, the media, and the sad fact that courage has lost its value as a commodity in our declining world. But some people still take their hat off to courage, and those who do must therefore take their hats off to our dogs. (pp. 5-26)

If you think about it, before a person can even talk about dogs he has to understand what a dog is. What most people don't stop to consider is the fact *all* of the original breed types came into being, based on some hunting/killing function. That includes ALL the original breed types not just ours: beagles, coon dogs, retrievers, bloodlhounds, greyhounds, terriers—you name it, they were bred to perform some hunting or killing function. Yet sadly, mankind is now so far removed from what is natural in life, thanks to the pale cement-and-plastic society he lives in, that most people today don't even know what a dog really is anymore. Most people think all doggies are really harmless little cartoon characters, or stuffed animals with ribbons in their hair, which is crazy. This chapter shines a bright light on the truth, which is that ALL dogs are really domesticated carnivores: hunters, killers, and eaters of meat, that we originally domesticated for our use, but that (ultimately) we are perverting into useless caricatures of the original dog by "pet" and "show" breeding. The intent of this prelude is to justify the existance of all hunting and performance dogs, and to salute them as the only true representatives of the original breed types left to us...and of course to justify the nobility of ours in particular. If you are going to make an honest commitment to this great breed, then when you set out to take on the serious task of becoming a dogman, or even just a truly competent pet owner, it's so easy to get started off on the wrong foot, or to continue down the wrong path if you don't know any better. This opening chapter helps you pick the right spot to do set yourself up in, as well as how and where to get the right equipment. Learn what pitfalls to avoid, right off the bat, and start your journey down the right path. This chapter contains absolutely critical information on how to get started right. (pp. 39-46)

The unfortunate fact is, most people don't know what a proper chain set-up looks like nor do they provide proper kenneling for their dogs. There is no telling how many great dogs have been lost to improper set-ups, flimsy kennels, and every single loss like this truly would have been avoidable, had the owners followed the practices outlined in this chapter. Simply put, pit dogs need top-notch housing and escape-proof quarters or they are going to cause trouble and/or be needlessly lost. This chapter provides photos and blueprints for creating the best constructs in which the serious dogman will want to quarter his serious dogs. Complete step-by-step instructions are both verbally-described as well as pictorially- illustrated. Furthermore, this chapter also explodes the myths about chains being "bad" for dogs, proving beyond all doubt the fact that professional chain set-ups are in fact superior to kennel runs on every level: comfort-wise and space-wise for the dogs, and financially for the owners. On almost every message board in existence, you will see dozens of confused fanciers arguing back-and-forth about dogfood. Forget about all that and read this chapter. This is all-new information and is one of the most important sections in this book, because arguably the single most important factor to the longterm health and happiness of your dogs is feeding them correctly. And yet, once again the vast majority of dogmen simply fail to do so. Learn not only how to feed correctly, but where to get top-notch feed sources for the same as what it costs to feed a cheap bag of crap to your dog. When you are done, you will be able to feed the absolute best ingredients to your dogs and yet you will have learned how to do so economically. (pp. 129-148)

There are a thousand-and-two brands of disinfectants and sanitizers to choose from, for both your dogs and for your kennel, and yet only 5 of them matter. This "saving money" chapter is worth 10x the price of this book. When you read it you will see why. It actually started out as a little book of its own, back in 1996, and was in fact the first book I ever wrote, a pamphlet really, and yet the power of its principles rocked the bulldog world forever more. The information I have shared with others has been updated and upgraded every few years or so, and each time it gets a facelift, or I share one new little "tip," the results can always be counted on to save those who read it hundreds, if not thousands of dollars from that moment forward in the caretaking of their dogs. Well, the new upgrade in this book is no exception, and once again the readers will be able to count on receiving absolutely first class secrets of how to save themselves a ton of money handling their routine dog medical issues and problems. The secrets of this chapter alone will pay for the book 5x over within the first year, I guarantee it. (pp. 155-184)

Most dogmen are unaware of the enormous potential healing properties of herbal medicinal remedies. Many even roll their eyes at the thought of using these wonderful gifts of Nature. Regardless of the tremendous use to which so many herbal medicinal remedies can be put, there will still be times when you must use traditional antibiotics to treat wounds, urinary tract infections, mastitis, bronchial infections, etc. When such times become necessary, once again the information contained in this book is going to come to your aid, not just in helping you understand which drugs to use for what purpose, but where to get these drugs cheaply and without a prescription. Most all of your common kennel problems have been dealt with in the previous two chapters, but this one really zeros-in and focuses on antibiotics specifically, which ones are the best and most common for dog needs, how to use them, when to use them, and where to get them cheaply and without a prescription. There are hundreds and hundreds of "dog books" out there, but once again very few of them matter to a serious dogman. The Pit Bull Bible, by itself, covers just about every aspect of raising dogs that you will come across in your lifetime, and will become your central reference text for as long as you breed and raise these dogs. However, there are other texts you may need for specific reference that simply are outside the scope of this book. From complete reference manuals of every drug made, to how to set fractures and breaks, to complete instruction manuals on performing canine surgery—as well as exhaustive reference texts on every canine disease known to man—serious specialty books can come in real handy sometimes—yet such material is not readily available to the average consumer. This chapter weeds through all the wasted copy and narrows it down to only 8 extra specialty books that you may need, if you really want to know dogs on a professional and educated level. In prices ranging from $55 to $180, you will learn the names of these books, where to get them, and you can be confident these books are the best in their fields—and thus your mastering them will take your level of dog knowledge up to the degreed veterinarian level. Despite how much you know, and how much you learn, there are simply going to be times when you and your dog will need a veterinarian. Whether it be for an xray, to get specific lab work done, or for an emergency c-section in the middle of the night, no serious dog breeder should be without an "ace in the hole" for a vet. Yet here again, you will find that most veterinarians are either unconcerned about your dogs and/or they are incompetent in their fields. Trust me, I could wallpaper my house with "vet reports" that ultimately came back wrong in their diagnoses. As someone who has seen a vet or two in 20 years of breeding and raising dogs, I will tell you the signs to look for in a bad vet (as well as a good vet), so that you can prepare yourself in advance by seeking out top veterinary counsel beforehand. I have driven as much as 3 hours away to make sure I had a good vet, as a truly good veterinarion (i.e., one who is legitimately competent, who truly cares about your animals, and who is also fair to your wallet) is a hard thing to find for a desciminating dog man. This chapter will teach you what to look for. It will also give you a breakdown of what are "reasonable" price ranges for various veterinary services, so you can see if your vet is robbing you or not. (pp. 225-228)

The entirety of "Book I" up till this point has dealt with the subject of "animal husbandry" concerning the care and raising of bulldogs in general, but this chapter centers around the actual mechanics of breeding dogs and successfully raising your pups that you have bred using your best dogs. Again, raising pups might sound easy at first blush, but there are a ton of problems and details to get straight if you expect to do so successfully in any capacity. From your management of the stud dog and making sure he's fertile, to your management of the brood bitch to exactly target ovulation before you breed—to preparing yourself for the possibility of hand-raising the pups if the need ever arises—truly competent animal husbandry involves a whole lot more than just letting two doggies breed and going to check on the pups. Believe me, there are a lot of ways that pups can and do die when reared by ignorant and incompetent dogmen, so if your goal is to be knowledgeable and competent there are a lot of matters for which you should prepare yourself. This chapter will set you up with a good system of preparation by teaching you ways to head-off problems before they happen, as well as giving you information as to how to deal with problems when they do happen. This chapter also offers the best advise ever written on how to beat the dreaded parvovirus, first through prevention, but also through the best treatment ever devised should you happen to get it. This is an indispensable chapter! (pp. 229-252)

Thus ends Book I, the mastery of which is foundational for Book II. All of the chapters in Book I were laid out in a progressive, step-by-step, incremental sequence for a reason. The specific succession and sequence is built upon layer-after-layer of good planning, but it is up to you to follow it in the proper order and sequence. As stated before, 99.99% of your experiences with these dogs is going to be feeding, caregiving, disease prevention and maintenance—which is why these matters are foundational for everything—and thus which is why they are covered first. As such, Book I is the most critical section of this work for you to master. The other aspect of these dogs, the sporting aspect, only comprises less than 1% of your activities in these dogs, even if you are extremely active. To this we now give our attention, the entire sum and substance of which is now covered in Book II.

Book II covers the sporting aspect of these dogs, which as stated previously only comprises less than 1% of even the most active dogman's efforts, let alone the majority of dog owners who are not active at all. Yet still, there is so much secrecy involving this "1%" of the dogs—as well as so much misinformation repeated—that many times these dogs suffer unconscionable cruelties at the hands of their idiot-owners, that someone really needs to speak-up on this subject and shine a Light of Truth as to how to go about these activities properly and humanely. My writing about these matters should not in any way be construed as my orgainizing, promoting, or otherwise encouraging the violation of any state, federal, or local laws, but merely my right as an American to discuss my views on a very controversial and misunderstood subject. As before with Book I, Book II is also set forth in a very precise and incremental sequence for a reason, with each layer built upon the principles before it, and thereby setting-up the principles which come afterward. This priceless information is as follows:

Everyone has "an opinion," but not everyone has decades' worth of repeated success in back of their opinions. The truth is there really are foundational principles to success. And, when you look closely, you will see these principles were behind every single great dogman who has ever lived—-but are lacking in every single person still floundering and who hasn't yet made it. Just as there are principles which are foundational to growing and farming crops successfully, which need to be followed if one expects a bountiful harvest, so too are there principles which are foundational to raising dogs successfully, which likewise need to be followed if one expects to get the most out of his efforts here too. If you pay attention to this compelling chapter, and if you make all of your decisions according to these 5 Key Principles, you will succeed automatically. (pp.257-266)

It would be no exaggeration to say that over 90% of the people in these dogs do not know how to school a dog properly. This chapter will show you how to teach your dog, not ruin your dog. (pp.267-276)

It would likewise be no exaggeration to say that over 90% of the people in these dogs don't understand how to test a dog properly either. They think "testing" their dog means brutally abusing their dog, or putting their dogs in a ridiculously out-matched situation, which can only be considered retarded. This chapter will show you how to test a dog properly, how to determine if your dog really has a competitive spirit and heart, and how to do this without needlessly injuring your dog or wasting his potential. (pp.277-282)

Finally, it would likewise be no exaggeration to say that over 90% of the people in these dogs don't know what "a good dog" means. From the propensity to position himself out of harm's way automatically, to economy of movement, to making the opponent carry his weight, to pacing himself rather than wasting all his energy too fast, to closing the deal the moment the opportunity presents itself—a truly good dog is a sight to behold. There is a whole lot more to a truly good dog than "aggression, shaking legs, and scratching," that the average dogman has no idea how to see or recognize. This chapter will tell you how to evaluate your animal for truly excellent ability while he is developing through his schooling. (pp.283-290)

There is no reason to use steroids. There is no reason to over-work your dog for 4 hours to win a contest that will be over with in less than 1:20 92% of the time. If you learn to school properly, to test properly, and if you learn to truly identify what a good dog is (and if you learn to call his weight right)—then by using correct health and conditioning principles (rather than turning to incorrect chemicals), you will win at least 90% of the time. This chapter provides you with absolutely everything you need to know, from A to Z, on how to save your dog from the after-affects of a dog deal, a wild boar hunt, or a bad kennel mishap. It has a profound general overview and then delves into the 3 emergency procedures you need to plan for:

IV Fluids: (Learn what *kind* of IV fluids to use, the drip rates to use, and how much to use based on the weight of your dog);
Cortico-Steroids: Azium, Dexamethasone, Solu-Delta Cortef, Solu-Medrol—learn how much of these drugs to use and when to use them. These drugs each do slightly different things and very few people know which to use for what purpose nor do they use the right amounts. At the same time, this chapter shows that most people do things exactly backwards in their breeding efforts (scrambing everything up), which is why no one ever hears about them and why no one ever will. The end of Book II will lead you back to the beginning of Book I, which will once again be the raising of the next generation of the animals you just won with and bred-to, establishing the bloodline you are seeking to create, and so furthering your vision of what you want "your perfect bulldogs" to be. Life is nothing but a cycle, and so the completion of Book II to its end will only bring you right back to the beginning of Book I again, which is caring for the next generation of your animals. This book is a monument to the basic principles of raising bulldogs that will be as true a thousand years from now as they were when I wrote them. Correct principles are like that.
