In any wound, great or small, there are going to be some basics that need addressing. First, of course, is getting any bleeding stopped. After that, since any wound involves some sort of forced entry of a foreign object into the body, there is likely going to be elements left behind in the wound. This brings about the need to "flush" any of these contaminating elements (dirt, debris, etc.) out of the wound. It is the opinion of Nature's Magic® that Betadine or Nolvasan should be your primary choices in flushing-out any wounds in your animals, while the wounds are fresh, particularly Betadine. After the wound has been flushed and cleansed, the decision is then made to close the wound with sutures (or staples) or to leave it open and let it heal from the inside-out. Unless the wound is truly severe, or unless it is a show animal that needs to be "mark free," it is the opinion of Nature's Magic® that leaving a wound open (when properly managed) is preferable to healing properly than is artificial closure. The reason is animals tend to force dirt into their sutured wounds (which, because they're closed, can no longer be flused-out but instead the foreign matter stays in the wound and festers). In either case, whether the wound is closed or left open, the next element to wound management is proper healing.

Proper healing is where Essential Wound Care™ comes in. Proper healing involves preventing infection, of course, but it also involves nourishing and restoring the damaged tissue. Damaged skin and flesh that is allowed to dry-out tends to heal badly, particularly at the edges. Damaged skin and flesh that is "covered" with wraps has a tendency to turn white and sometimes it even gets necrotic, due to lack of oxygen and airflow. By contrast, skin that is kept supple and left out in the open to "breathe" tends to heal much better. The ingredients of Essential Wound Care™ allow for all of these factors by covering all bases. The oils not only provide an element of perpetual moisture to the damaged skin, but those same oils actually nourish the skin with essential vitamins (A, E, and D) that are critical for healthy skin and flesh. Turpentine is among the most useful antiseptics and disinfectants and has been used by man for aeons. Bacteria cannot build a resistance to it. The oil provides a base for the turpentine to be in constant contact with the wound, preventing infection, while the aroma of the turpentine prevents even infected wounds from smelling bad, and as such the overall combination will turn even the worst of infections right around into becoming healed.

While there are a few name brands that provide similar ingredients and similar products, none of them provides quite the level of care as Nature's Magic® Essential Wound Care™. The Cod Liver Oil and Wheat Germ Oil in Essential Wound Care™ provide exceptionally high levels of Vitamins A, D & E, all of which are vital nutrients for repairing skin and keeping it healthy. The Flaxseed Oil provides vital Omega 3 No other competing company has these ingredients under one label nor in the right proportions.
