The Neem Tree (Azadirachta indica) from India has been utilized for centuries in many capacities, from sanitizing homes to killing athlete's foot, but the most notable properties of this amazing oil (relevant to Nature's Block™) are these:

• Neem Oil has an amazingly broad spectrum of action on invertebrates (e.g., insects/spiders), either repelling or outright killing more than 200 species.
• Neem Oil contains a naturally occurring insect growth regulator (IGR), which means that insects exposed to Neem can no longer grow or mature.
• Neem Oil is also an antifeedant, discouraging any insect from feeding, on top of which Neem is an ovipositor-deterrent and repellent, which means surviving insects exposed to Neem Oil will not reproduce either.
• Neem Oil is harmless to vertebrates like mammals, birds, and reptiles, which means your dogs, horses, and other livestock are unaffected by Neem Oil's power.
• Neem Oil is completely biodegradable; therefore (unlike most pesticides) by using Neem Oil you will be reducing the environmental load of synthetic chemicals into our world.

Thus the potential applications of Neem Oil should be readily-apparent: (1) Neem kills or repels insects; (2) Neem won't hurt your plants, your pets/livestock, and it won't hurt you. As mentioned above, the standard insecticide most people in the United States use is pyrethrin, which is derived from the Chrysanthemum plant. Using the pure, concentrated Neem Oil in Nature's Block™ is easy. Each 2-oz vial makes four 16-oz bottles (or two 32-oz/1 Quart bottles) of Nature's Block, if you're using it for animals and livestock. If you're using this product to repel insect pests from your flower or vegetable garden, then the mixing ratio is quite different. Below is a breakdown of how it works:

• For Pets & Livestock: Each 2 oz vial contains 60 ml of Neem Oil. Take a 16-oz carafe and fill with water. Mix 15 ml of Neem Oil with the 16 oz of water. Add 3 ml of Ivory Liquid as an emulsifier and shake well. (If you're using a 32-oz bottle, then add 30 ml of Neem Oil and 5 ml of Ivory Liquid). Shake well to distribute evenly. Apply to all furred areas of the animal. Avoid spraying/rubbing on or near the eyes. Okay to use on and in ears. Repeat once a week or as often as necessary. Each vial of Nature's Block™ makes 4 one-pint bottles of spray (or two 1-quart bottles). For longer-lasting results, substitute mineral oil for the water! (Not recommended for indoor animals.)

• For Flowers & Vegetables: Mix between 15 ml to 30 ml of Neem Oil into a gallon jug of water. Add 5 ml of Ivory Liquid as an emulsifier and shake well. (Start with 15 ml to make sure plants are tolerant of the oil, as too much oil of any kind can burn plants exposed to direct sunlight). At the 15 ml-to-1-gallon ratio, one vial of Nature's Block™ makes 4 gallons of spray. Four gallons will fill 16 quart-sized sprayers or 32 pint-sized sprayers. Spray your valuable plants in the evening, when many pests (moths) come out at night to lay their eggs. If your plant pests are particularly bad, up the ratio to 30 ml per gallon, but first apply it only to a small area of garden to be sure no burning occurs due to sunlight exposure by day. Repeat as often as needed, confident you are using a completely safe, biodegradeable product.

You can experiment with different ratios as you see fit for both your plants and animals. For your animals, you can also add Nature's Block™ Neem Oil to cremes, lotions, etc. and then rub the medicated preparation on your pets and livestock as a fly repellant. Use liberally on ears, muzzles, etc. You can likewise add Nature's Block™ Neem Oil to your existing pet shampoos to create a medicated effect also.
